Description: Antoine Louis Barye’s plaster cast, entitled Lion, served as the original working model for its bronze counterpart, depicting the animal perched thoughtfully on a nondescript surface with muscles tensed and body slightly turned in a guard-like position

Circa: 19th Century
Provenance: This original plaster working model cast is said to have been acquired by Lorado Taft so that children might have an opportunity to touch, feel and explore the shapes and forms of sculpture.
